Iconic Duo David Crispino and Tony Gregori Unveil a Festive Holiday Adventure in a Kickstarter Exclusive Graphic Novel

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI 11/22/2023 - Today, Black Friday, November 24, 2023, renowned writer David Crispino and acclaimed artist Tony Gregori are set to captivate audiences with the launch of their highly anticipated Kickstarter campaign for Taft Sturgeon: Holiday in the Stars. This 140-page, fully colored original graphic novel promises an enchanting blend of holiday magic, adventure, and heartwarming camaraderie.
In this latest escapade, Taft Sturgeon, Shanice, and Gino return to embark on a thrilling yuletide quest. When a malevolent toy salesman spreads his holiday-themed creations, chaos ensues as the toys spring to life, leading Taft to feel the weight of failure. However, an opportunity emerges for Taft to redeem himself when a multi-galactical robot manufacturer seeks his assistance in crafting the ultimate automaton: the Taft-O-Tron. But as Taft's likeness journeys through the galaxy, a haunting question arises—is the A.I. harboring a more sinister agenda?
Writer David Crispino shared his motivation behind the comic, stating, "I really love telling stories, and I believe it's a worthwhile investment to create comics with a group of great people. I think it's only fair to compensate my collaborators while I bring them along in telling my dreams and nightmares. As far as why I wanted to tell a Christmas story, I just wanted to pay respects to the people who showed me how to spread cheer and kindness. I miss my dad, my grandfather, and great grandparents. I try to do my best to channel them especially around the holidays. I fill my house with lights, warmth, and cheer, and I wanted to share that with the readership."
Joining forces with Crispino are artist Tony Gregori, colorists Simon Gough and Guilherme Lindemberg Mendes, and letterer Taylor Esposito bring this vibrant universe to life.
Tony Gregori's notable credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Worst Dudes, Dust Pirates, and his recent crowdfunded success, Porkchop Robot Killer.
Colorist Simon Gough, with over a decade of experience in the industry, has contributed his talents to titles such as G.I Joe, TMNT, and Transformers, among others.
Guilherme Lindemberg Mendes, an esteemed colorist, adds his creative touch to enhance the visual allure of Taft’s holiday adventure.
Taylor Esposito, a distinguished letterer with credits at DC, Dynamite, and Dark Horse Comics, among others, brings his expertise in crafting the perfect visual narrative.
The Kickstarter campaign for Taft Sturgeon: Holiday in the Stars launches today, Black Friday, November 24, 2023. Backers will have the opportunity to support this exciting project and be among the first to experience the festive adventure of Taft Sturgeon and friends. Backers will also have the opportunity to purchase original art from the campaign as well as commissions, both black and white and in-color, from Tony Gregori.
