Kickstarter Campaign Announced for SMUT: A Bold and Hilarious NSFW Comic Book
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO, IL 4/4/2024 - Prepare for a fresh (and a little naughty) NSFW comedy with the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for SMUT, a thrilling slice-of-life comic book series combining humor, romance, and eroticism. The campaign is set to launch on April 8th and run until May 8th, offering backers the chance to support and receive exclusive rewards for this groundbreaking project.
Smut follows the misadventures of three friends as they navigate relationship woes, make promises to improve their love lives, and embark on a journey filled with unexpected twists, turns, and plenty of steamy encounters. In the debut issue, readers are introduced to Dakota, who is determined to break her pattern of casual hookups, which leads to an intriguing first date and plenty of spiraling self-analysis.
With 32 pages of rich and spicy storytelling, Smut promises to deliver a unique blend of humor, romance, and sexual exploration. Fans can expect lively artwork and stunning variants from industry professionals like Elieen Widjaja and Elisa Romboli, adding depth and vibrancy to a series already bursting with life and humanity.
Targeting audiences who enjoy comics with adult themes and character-driven narratives, Smut appeals to fans of titles such as Sex Criminals, Sunstone, and Money Shot, as well as readers who appreciate the charm of slice-of-life stories like Giant Days and Derry Girls. With its focus on indie romance and unapologetic exploration of the "smut" genre, Smut promises to captivate and entertain a diverse audience.
The creative team behind Smut includes writer Wells Thompson, whose previous works include MechaTon and Frankenstein the Unconquered, along with co-writer and wife, Brianna Thompson who put their promising writing career on hold to become a microbiologist and research scientist. After marrying Wells Thompson, she decided to get back into writing and give comics a shot. The Thompsons are joined by artist Bianca Milanez, whose passion for storytelling shines through in her dynamic illustrations. Closing out this rockstar team of creators is letterer and designer DC Hopkins who brings the series to life with his expertise and attention to detail, ensuring a seamless reading experience.
Reflecting on the project, writer Wells Thompson shares, “I love writing Smut because we get to use eroticism and sex as an interesting way to tell these very personal stories. I started writing it because I was interested to see how I would handle Smut, and I fell in love with it because of the characters. I think our readers will feel the same!”
Artist Bianca Milanez adds, “Smut is a comic I wish I had when I was younger. It talks about sex in not only a positive, healthy way but in a way that’s fun and real. It really does feel like you're having brunch with your friends, telling your relationship troubles and stories, those are usually my favorite days. I’m extremely grateful to have had the chance to fall in love with the girls (and root for them) while working on it!”
Don't miss your chance to support Smut and be part of this exciting journey. Visit the Kickstarter page today to follow the campaign and sign up for notifications.
