Introducing Sacrimony: An Unconventional Fantasy Comic Book Experience

Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for Sacrimony, an innovative comic book series by the talented artist and writer, Matta Sorcier. With an intriguing storyline and gorgeous illustrations, Sacrimony promises to be a refreshing addition to the realm of fantasy comics.

In Sacrimony, readers will be introduced to the enigmatic protagonist, Khajad. After experiencing a perplexing death and resurrection, Khajad finds herself alive once again, but with some peculiarities. Struggling to piece together her past and understand her newfound magical powers, Khajad must hide her extraordinary white demon wings from society. Alongside her mother, Yunika, the duo navigates the bustling city of Aldenkirk, aiming to lead a semblance of a "normal" life. But can their lives ever truly be normal?

The Kickstarter campaign for Sacrimony will run from June 22 to July 10, offering supporters the chance to be part of this engaging and imaginative world. By contributing to the campaign, backers will not only have the satisfaction of supporting an independent creator but will also gain access to exclusive rewards, including limited edition prints, stickers, signed copies, and the opportunity to have their name enshrined within the pages of Sacrimony.

Matta Sorcier, the brilliant mind behind Sacrimony, is a self-taught artist and writer hailing from the vibrant Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Despite facing numerous challenges due to a lack of resources and financial support, Matta has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft and answering the age-old question of how to bring her artistic visions to life.

Regarding her creation, Matta shares, "It’s the kind of story that I’ve always wanted to exist. I love fantasy stories in general, but most popular fantasy just feels like another rehashed version of Medieval Europe. I wanted to create a fantasy world that felt more colorful, diverse, and overall just... weird."

With the campaign focused on the release of the highly anticipated sixth issue, Sacrimony #6 is a 30-page, full-color comic book that will ensnare readers from start to finish. The artwork is complete and ready to be sent for printing upon the successful completion of the campaign.

For those new to the series, the first five issues are also available in a trade paperback format, comprising 180 pages of thrilling storytelling. This collection provides an excellent opportunity for readers to catch up on the epic narrative before diving into the latest installment.

Matta Sorcier reflects on the essence of Sacrimony, saying, "Being inspired by various types of mythology, I knew I didn’t want to make yet another fantasy story about a group of heroes reluctantly banding together to defeat a common enemy. I wanted a story about divine dysfunctional families and extraordinary people doing very ordinary things. The characters may not look like the reader, but everyone can find a piece of themselves in certain characters, and something about that is more powerful than saving the world."
